A Resorts World Langkawi Review for travelers heading to the beautiful Langkawi Island of Malaysia!

If you’re traveling through Malaysia, then it’s a high chance Langkawi will be on your list of places to go. Langkawi is filled with accommodation options for all kinds of travelers… It has hostels, motels, homestays, resorts, and your typical average hotel options. We opted for Resorts World (also known as Awana Porto Malai) in Tanjung Malai which is a short drive from the popular Cenang.

To be honest, when we first arrived here I was a little bummed out. It wasn’t walking distance to town or to other restaurants. And it didn’t have a swimmable beach like I imagined all of Langkawi to have. But it didn’t take long to get over all of that.

RESORTS WORLD LANGKAWI REVIEW:

THE ROOM

First off, our room was amazing. It was one of the newly renovated rooms (so when booking, definitely ask for a new room). The bed was massive and comfortable, it had a balcony, a couch, a table and chairs, and a coffee and tea station. The shower was great too- I never had an issue with the water pressure or temperature.

The aircon in the room works great, and it’s easy to get the temperature just right for what you want.

THE RESTAURANT:

During our stay, we went to the buffet breakfast in the resort restaurant. For two people it came to $75MR which isn’t too bad for a resort breakfast buffet. They have an omelette station which is a huge thumbs up from me! Plus a cold breakfast section and a hot section with an assortment of both Asian and Western options.

For at least one night, definitely have dinner at the restaurant here and sit outside along the water front. During sunset and when it falls into darkness, it has a certain ‘fairytale’ charm to it and often there is live music while you dine.

THE FACILITIES & SERVICES:

I would first like to state that this resort has a ballroom…. A BALLROOM! Okay, no I didn’t get to go inside, but the fact that it has a ballroom just blows my mind haha.

There’s also a gym and a pool… Both of which you might get more use out of than a ballroom. The gym is pretty well equipped compared to some other hotels’ gyms I’ve seen. There’s two treadmills, and lots of other weight machines as well as free weights. Plus there’s an ocean view… Nothing like running on a treadmill to an ocean view!

The pool itself is relatively large. No one really seemed to use if while we were there for some reason. So there were plenty of loungers free for the taking. There’s also a children’s pool connected to the main pool so it’s easy to keep an eye on the young ones.

One thing I really liked though was the free shuttle service in to Cenang Town. It’s only about a 10 minute drive away and they drop you off right at the Cenang Mall which is opposite Cenang beach (where the big Langkawi sign is if you want the good photo opps ;)).  There’s certain times during the day when you can get dropped off and picked up. This definitely makes up for the fact that Resort’s World is a little further out of the town. If the shuttle times don’t work for you, it’s pretty cheap to just catch a taxi to get to town and back.

Another option for transport if you’re up for it is to rent a scooter or a car. The front desk at Resorts World will actually call up their partner rental shop to book you in. The rental shop comes and picks you up from the resort and takes you back to their shop to get you set up with a bike or car. Then once you return (that same day or later on in the week if you booked for multiple days) they drop you back at the resort. This was ideal for us!

STAFF:

The staff at Resorts World  Langkawi  blew me away. Especially one young woman at the front desk; she was always so helpful and patient with us. Walking through the corridors all the staff would say hi and give a smile. The restaurant staff were professional and polite. From over two years of full-time travel, the staff here were stand-out for sure.

So that was my Resorts World Langkawi Review! If you’re a couple looking for a romantic getaway, or a solo traveler wanting some peace and quiet on the oceanfront… Or perhaps a family wanting a nice resort away from town but the ease of getting into town when need be, then Resorts World Langkawi  is definitely an option to look in to… Just make sure you request a renovated room when you book!

Enjoy your time in Langkawi!
